life under control - review

Very shortly here take a moment to look what we saw this week:

day 1 - be willing to repent
day 2 - take action against temptation
day 3 - keep your focus on Christ
day 4 - even with forgiveness of sin, sin still has consequences
day 5 - find an accountability partner or partners and don't succumb to "respectable sins"
day 6 - spiritual health is more important than physical health

God loves you and wants what is best for you. Sometimes that means we have to do what we don't want to do (change our diet, get off our lazy butt and exercise, stop watching that dumb TV show, change jobs). And quite often what we want to do is just plain stupid in hind-sight! How many "no" answers have you had from God that at the time were devastating that later on you realized was Divine grace and mercy? Thank God I didn't marry that one guy or move to that one city or get that other promotion!

Sometimes we don't get to see the "why" behind the motives of God but we can rest assured that He will never let anything happen to us that will not better conform us to the image of His Son. Even something as heart-wrenching as the death of someone close is for the glory of God and our best interest.

Remember that God lost Someone close to Him once too.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he alsojustified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. (Romans 8:28-30, ESV)
