Speaking of shoes...

So, you may know that in my previous life, before I moved to Texas (and why I moved to Texas) I was a ballerina at a professional studio where I broke my left ACL. This was career-ending for me and was quite the relief because I didn't have that right personality to fit in with the other girls. I had a lot of fun dancing. I was in a Christian environment but the "dance world" was still very much a part of the studio. I hear they've changed. (I just don't understand mean Christians even if are dance teachers.)

Okay, so here I am in Texas to see a specialist that my parents know. He fixes my knee. Sort of. After I get pregnant with Caleb and put on an extra 50 pounds and walk up two high school flights of stairs every day, my knee starts hurting. Badly. Another operation later and things look good.

Then, another pregnancy. Things go well. No aching. No pain. But afterward when I'm trying to lose the baby weight with exercise then my knee starts hurting. So, I buy a good pair of walking shoes. So comfortable! But no good. Knee still hurts. And Felipe keeps suggesting that I buy these ugly Vibram Five Finger shoes. So ugly.

He wore me down. In a moment of desperation, I bought the prettiest pair they made:
At first I was really embarrassed to wear them. But then I noticed that my knee wouldn't hurt afterward. So there you have it. A combination of weight loss and correct shoes has resulted in little to no noticeable pain.

That's it. You can buy them at Sun and Ski like I did. Or here: http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/index.htm

Shoes for Tomorrow Today for Caleb

TOMs are shoes. Its a company started by a guy from Felipe's high school. Maybe you've heard of them, or maybe its just a local thing. The business model is that this guy, Blake Mycoskie, will give one pair of shoes to a person in need for every pair sold. The only problem is is that the shoes are kinda strange looking at first. But then they grow on you. I really like them now.

Check them out here: http://www.toms.com

Well, Felipe had a pair or two...or ten...over the years, of course. Then I got a few pairs. And now its Caleb's turn. He got the blue pair with the animals print. His first reaction was to point to them anne make barking noises. He loves them!

That's all:

oh, and go buy a pair for yourself and every member of your family!

ok, now that's all:

Nice Walk This AM

I've shared before about how much I love spending time with my family. I even try to get showers and cleaning done while the babies take a nap so I can focus more on them. As I write this, they are slumbering away. Felipe's at work. I don't like cleaning when he's home and I rarely shower when he's home. I like us all to be together. I guard and cherish that time and I don't like sharing it with others.

This morning we woke up earlier than normal. Normal is around 8am and this morning was 6:45! Felipe and I just woke up naturally...him more so than me. I awoke to him laughing at some video he found online! LOL! And we decided to take the kiddos for a walk.

It was nice and cool, which is unusual for DFW even in the spring. But the kids loved it!

Here's happy Dada with sleepy Caleb:

Here's sleepy Micah with happy Mama!

Here's our destination:
That's right. We walked to the closest donut shop. mmmm! Own and operated by Koreans. Why do Koreans make the best donuts? I don't know. But we got to talking and the lady said they get there at 1 am to start making donuts for opening at 5am. This is Felipe's and my dream job. Once we are done having babies, and maybe once we have a single payer health care system, I think we'll get serious about it. I just don't think you can have too many of these shops in the fattest nation in the world.

It was a great refreshing walk for mama and dada and the kiddos tuckered out soon after we got back...in fact, Micah didn't even make it home:
