Daddy's and Baby's Video

As a sequel to his highly acclaimed blockbuster Attack of the Eye-ball Snatcher, Caleb has just finished post-production of...The Bean Dip Thief.

Here's the cover art:

In addition to this, I present to you a cutie-pie:
I think it's hysterical that this is close to the worse cut-and-paste job ever. It's great!

Caleb and I Made a Movie

That's right. Caleb and I made a movie. We have a working title: The Attack of the Eye-ball Snatcher. We're open to suggestions though. Some possible covers for the dvd and theater posters are below-

The basic plot is there's a lady (played by me) who loves a baby (played by Caleb). She thinks she loves him unconditionally, but when he tries to snatch her eye-ball, will her love be enough to overcome his obsession? dun dun DUNNN!!! (press the link. you'll be happy you did.)

The movie is complete with drama, suspense, love, adversity, themes of forgiveness, and a basic family-friendly plot that is safe for your youngest child but still entertaining enough for Christian Bale, who is in pre-production of the next Batman sequel!

So, I highly recommend it. It's going to be a blockbuster. It's perfectly safe for your Family Fun Night:

I know. Good, right? I'm already practicing my acceptance speech for supporting actress. Maybe we can eventually get an interview with Caleb on how it was to make a film with his mother. What it was like to film with me, etc. We do have another version. But this is the original. I like the original better. It's more authentic. The acting is more genuine.

First Visit to the Doctor!

We recently had Caleb's first visit to the doctor. He got his shots :( Which made me sad...and made him cranky all that day and the next. We gave him some children's ibuprofen which made him feel better (he even stopped nursing to say, "I love you.").

Here he is all strapped in and ready to go:
I tried to prep him on how painful the shots were going to be, but I don't think he understood. The nurse told us that another dad practices with his daughter by poking her with his finger in her thighs. one. two. done. We'll try that next time.

Here we are waiting for the appointment:

Our doctor was reffered to us by some church friends, Jon and Heather, who recently had their first child as well. Jon actually used this pediatrician when he was a child all the way until he was 20!

The doctor gave us a good report on the baby, answered our questions, and told us how to better take care of him! He seems like a good doctor!

Sleepy Caleb

The guys at Crossway have published an ESV study Bible and made it available online. Through this online service, I am able to do daily reading by making one of the devotionals my homepage:

This way I see it every time I go online and am without excuse as to why I didn't read - no forgetting or not knowing where my Bible is. There are several devotionals to choose from. I chose a simple one that is topic-based instead of the typical "Read through the Bible in a year" plans. That is too much reading for me to be able to really think and meditate over in one sitting. Also this way I can read it to Caleb without much explanation.

I sometimes read to him in the morning but I always read to him at night. And then he falls asleep in my arms:

Hear, my son, your father's instruction,
and forsake not your mother's teaching,
for they are a graceful garland for your head
and pendants for your neck.

A Baby Pouch

I had on my baby shower registry one of those slings that have since been recalled due to several babies suffocating. The idea of those slings is to keep your little one close while freeing your arms to be able to function. It's a great idea. Often I feel completely incapacitated for an entire day because the baby needs to be held (he's still a newborn so I'm not worried about spoiling him yet).

This led us to purchase this:

Moby Wrap
Caleb and I love it! Caleb gets to be held and I get to accomplish things. But if he spits up on it or pees or once we got sunscreen on it then it's dirty, needs to be washed and is out of commission for a little while. So I wanted a second one. But I didn't want to buy it. So I made it!

This one is a different design but it works just as well.

This is in-process:

And this is the end product:

I don't really enjoy sewing at all. But when I have something that I need, I like to be able to get it done. My mom had this extra fabric laying around, unused, with no plans of being used, so there was no cost involved.

Potty Training

Saturday, July 10- Felipe gives me the go-ahead to start potty training via Elimination Communication. We had plans to buy a baby toilet but other things got in the way.

Sunday, July 11- Still in bed, I can tell Caleb is about too pee and poop. So I take him to the toilet, unsure as to how to hold him in place... The second time Caleb needed to pee, he peed (and pooped) in the toilet! We saved one diaper today. And grandma bought him a baby toilet (Safety 1st Comfy Cushy):

Caleb loved the new toilet. He went pee but did not go poop in it:

I think many parents do not know that they can potty train so young. Others believe Freud when he says kids will be scarred for life. Others simply don't want to put the work into it; and yes, it is hard on the parents, but we'll be saving diapers in the long run and no, Caleb will not be scarred for life - look at this smile!
Yay! for potty training and for having such a smart baby! We reward him for doing well by giving him kisses and telling him how proud we are! There is no such thing as not doing well, so there will never be any punishments. It's fine if Caleb goes in his diaper, but it's WONDERFUL if he goes in the toilet. Caleb hates pooping in his diaper and I think that's why he likes the toilet so much. This might not work on our next kid if he/she doesn't mind poops; we'll just have to wait and assess then.

This is a special photo of my son with his daddy, grandpa (his daddy's daddy), and great-grandpa (his daddy's daddy's daddy). Four generations!

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged,

and the glory of children is their fathers.

Losing That Pregnancy Weight

Ok, time for my uncomfortably honest segment.

I weighed about 125 before I got pregnant and a little less than that at my wedding. During my first trimester I actually lost weight which I thought was an indicator that I wouldn't gain that much. Welllll, by the end I weighed 173 pounds. Within the first week I was back to 140...and I've been at 140 ever since then. It has been 8 weeks since the birth. I need help.

A while back, I did Weight Watchers. I highly recommend it! At the moment, Felipe and I are very poor and will probably remain that way for a few years. So instead of joining WW again, I'm going to do it on my own. Starting today.

Felipe looked online to see that I get 30 points and now I just have to keep track of it all. We started a gym membership which may seem odd for poor people but we need to stay healthy to thwart medical expenses. Eventually, I'll work up to being able to do P90X!

My goal is to get back to 120 or less by Christmas...unless I get pregnant again.

Surprise Shower!

No, not a baby shower. More like a Surprise IN the Shower!

A few months back I though it would be cute to sneak up on Felipe in the shower. I would pretend to be upset but then give him a kiss!

This is a re-enactment: Create custom animated gifs at!

Now almost every time one of us is in the shower the other comes in and surprises the other! Sometimes we even bring the baby along for some surprise kisses! We have even been known to be just walking about our day and stop and pretend to pull back the curtain for a surprise kiss!

I love my husband :D Who knew this would turn into an on-going game?!
